Aside from the numerous clubs and societies listed above Modbury has a very comprehensive range of retail outlets including: a butcher, delicatessen, greengrocer, bakers, chemist, local CWS supermarket, hardware store, art galleries, gift shops, Post Office, two estate agents, carpet shop, two hairdressers, hat shop, florist, two café/coffee shops, a bank (open 3 days a week), a bistro, three public houses, Indian restaurant and a Chinese takeaway.
A well equipped Health Centre is located in the centre of town close to the Poundwell car park.
The Modbury Information Centre www.modburytic.org.uk is located in Modbury Court next to the Exeter Inn. Open from 10am to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday during the summer months and on Saturday mornings in the Autumn and Winter.
Modbury has good public transport bus services to Plymouth and Kingsbridge and there are two local taxis firms. Rail Services are readily accessible from Totnes / Ivybridge and Plymouth. Plymouth airport is approximately 30 minutes drive and Exeter airport 40 minutes. Modbury has convenient car parks with on-street parking found on Church Street and Brownston Street. weekly parking tickets valid in Poundwell Meadow Car park (off Church Street) are available from the Tourist Information Office. Annual car park tickets can be obtained from South Hams District Council.
A Memorial Hall serves to provide a community facility for hire by clubs and private individuals. The grounds provide a children’s play area close to the school gates.
The primary school has an excellent reputation and serves both the town and surrounding rural areas.
A Millenium Meadow provides an open green space three minutes walk from the centre of the town. It is beautiful tranquil spot to unwind and just relax from the pressures of every day life.
On the edge of town there is recreation ground providing facilities for football and tennis. A project is currently underway to construct a new pavilion to service a wide range of sports and associated activities.
